Anyhow, it was such a nice experience and I feel such joy each time memories pop up in my head. We were in the USA for almost one month and visited five states: California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Nevada. They all have a special place in my heart, but California is my fave. I could even see myself living there.
Here are some of the things I love about The Golden State:
(Note: This article is written from a (Belgian) tourist’s perspective. The places I went to in California are San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, Venice Beach, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Disneyland.)
Californians seem to love the outdoors. Activities such as hiking, swimming, biking, running, skating, beach games, … are plentiful. And let’s not forget about Muscle Beach! 🙂
A Disneyland where the sun (almost) always shines is like a dream! I usually go to Disneyland Paris, where the weather is totally different. It was surreal to be in Disneyland during Halloween season and having a bright, sunny day. I also liked being surrounded by palm trees.
My favorite place of them all! Walking on the Venice Beach boulevard genuinely made me think about dropping everything at home. Start living a life across the coastline and spending my days working in a local ice cream shop. The local people seemed so cool and carefree. Are you a Venice Beach Local? Then please tell me if I’m right or wrong! :p
I had such a nice time hanging around, biking from Venice to Santa Monica, sunbathing on the beach and just enjoying life. Ugh, I want to go back!
We drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco along the Pasific Coast Highway. The sceneries we saw were priceless. And it’s a perfect way to discover hidden beaches.
A lot of people at home warned me about inhabitants being fake. And I have to admit that I sometimes felt like some people were being waaay to nice. But at least they are friendly, welcoming, smile a lot and make an effort to have a conversation.
The amount of sunshine is incredible, I’d love to have that luxury in Belgium. But you can still find snow in the state of sun. Think about Yosemite National Park during winter (and I bet there are more places).
Palm trees! <3
Pretty and exotic!
Hiking in Yosemite National Park is life. If you want to challenge yourself, take the 4 mile trail. I felt like I could conquer the world when I reached the top. And the views were amazing.
Walking across these giant trees feels like a dream. They’re massive and you will only understand their true size when standing next to them.
Foggy San Francisco
This results in amazing shots of the Golden Gate Bridge. We made so many shots of that bridge just to capture its beauty.
Cute summer outfits all year long!
What are your thoughts on California? 🙂
